February 2010 (Reissue)
The Kookie, the cookie...
The economic climate that permeates current day society, brings new meaning to the expression "pressurized". Things are further exacerbated by more turmoil brewing in the banking, health care and just plain employment sectors where, all around, nothing seems to be going well at all.
It sort of feels like deciding to walk while wearing "two left shoes". Check it. You know it's an idiotic thing to do. People will look at you, they'll laugh at you and ultimately, after you've had enough, you'll take one off, but just for a time, you want to do something crazy. Why? Because these are the times that mandate it.
Absolutely no sense at all. Maybe one day normalcy will return, but today is not that day.
With all else that's going on in this crazy world of ours, now it seems the Presidents program of "Cash for Clunkers" is about to go bust. Not really sure it was a good idea in the first place, if the figure that was up for grabs was $2,500 and not $4,500 it might have prolonged the program a bit more and perhaps even given some hope and help to those who would even accept crumbs at this point.
I understand he was trying to help the US auto industry and all that, but why, really? It seems a more equitable dispensation of any available funds would have been better spent, going through the communities most devastated by the shenanigans of the former, free world leader (?) It might have even been prudent to make some of those in Detroit who actually benefited over the last few years to first voluntarily "contribute" a donation of say, $4,500 smackers.
If not voluntary than something a little more forceful, maybe a little visit form Tony Soprano and his boys (hahaha, now you know I'm just teasing). Anyway, to get down to "brass tacks", my most pressing concern has to do with the survival and flourishing of performing artists of every ilk, in all of this madness.
Yes, there sure are a lot of things that sound really good, but hold them close to the light and you'd better be extra careful, least you find out that the bag that contains them within is highly combustible and once exploded will really do a singe job on your head, ten times worst than Michael's (Pepsi? Commercial?
Come on people, get with the program). All these fancily duded up social network players really come off like just some more slicker than slick hair grease, touting the same tired bull shit message,"a lil' dab will do ya"! What it seems they mean to say is: "a little dab and WE'LL do ya".
Funny how there seems to be no credible download charts anywhere which accurately tell the story about who and how many downloads anywhere are being sold by anybody. I don't know, but maybe that's just my paranoia. I already have enough trouble trying to collect mechanical s, synchronization rights, royalties etc from the plethora of other "hooray's out there. Oh but don't worry baby, "I'm coming for you", you best believe it.
Just a little hint for you, artists you'd better start thinking about extending your image, your name and your career to every little corner around the globe. An explosion of opportunity is coming so you'd better keep both eye's op and be prepared. If you stay ready you don't have get ready. Superstarcase says be ready!
